Role: Impact Evaluation Expert – Multiple Roles

Summary

Seeking a senior MEL expert with experience conducting Impact Evaluations on poverty reduction, livelihoods, agriculture, environment, climate or stabilisation. The roles will conduct impact evaluations on some of the most challenging issues in the humanitarian aid and development sector. The roles requires people with previous experience conducting impact evaluations in one or more thematic disciplines. The candidate should be highly motivated by working on social justice issues such as poverty reduction, climate change and food systems. 

The Role 

This role will help to design and deliver experimental and quasi-experimental impact evaluations from the formative to the summative stage. The roles are consultant positions engaged for assignments on day rates. The responsibilities of assignments will differ but will likely include:

Monitoring, Learning and Evaluation

• Advising clients on project design to enable effective impact evaluations
• Advising on project design to limit confounding factors, spillover and contamination
• Designing MEL frameworks for Impact Evaluations including problem statements, sampling, Key Evaluation Questions and counter-factuals
• Managing data collection for treatment and control groups
• Designing quasi-experimental evaluations including Regression Discontinuity and Propensity Score Matching using DiD and PSM
• Statistical analysis and STATA to calculate, amongst other data points, P Values, T-Stats and Z Scores that assist in determining attribution.
• Designing MEL Frameworks

Requirements

A successful candidate will meet the following requirements:

• Complete fluency in written and spoken English
• 5+ years of MEL experience in a development context of relevance to ESDO
• Experience conducting impact evaluations
• Understanding of different impact evaluation methodologies
• STATA

Engagement Terms

This position is a remote consultant role, paid on day rates agreed for each assignment.
